A Liturgy of Perspectives

To They who dwell above all, around all,
And within dimensions we cannot see,

Give us today the proper perspectives
That we might see in new ways
In authentic ways,
In unexpected ways,
To learn and grow in our understanding.

Help us to better see the big picture,
How things fit together,
Work together,
Dance together,
In ways that too often we miss
Due to our narrow focus.

Widen our view to see
That our environment,
Our surroundings,
Our day-to-day
Is such a minuscule part
Of what is happening;
That You aren’t confined
To one nation, One church,
One people. That you see all,
Know all, Love all, Choose all.

Help us also to see the little things,
The amazing detail by which you work,
In individual lives,
In the nature of your creation,
In heartbeats and breaths,
In giggles and tears,
In the raw emotions we deal with daily.

Narrow our view to see
That our neighbors
Our family, Our day-to-day
Has evidence of your work
Of your intimacy, Of your love,
That we can find you, Jesus,
In the face of a grocery clerk,
In the weary eyes of a mother
Holding onto her children at a border crossing,
In the whisper of love
To an individual suffering from covid.

Remind us that you are big and small,
Overarching and intimate.
Open our eyes in both ways
That we might love more
Serve more, Understand more.

Amen.
