A Liturgy of Slowing Down

To They whose timing is always right,
Even when we don’t think so.

Today, we ask you to teach us to slow down.
To pay attention to the things that are happening
Around us,
Within us,
Above us.

To take a breath, To take a pause,
To look into the mystery of what you’re doing in every moment.

Too often we get busy
Busy with work, Busy with life,
Busy with our preoccupations,
And in those times we forget to pause,
To slow down,
To pay attention to what You are doing

Help us to understand
That while moving quickly can be effective
In production, In efficiency, In doing more,
That the journey of life is not a sprint.
And we can miss opportunities and still, small voices
When we race through life.

So help us to steady our pace,
To rest in the mysteries you want to reveal,
To trust in your slow work.

Amen.
