God,
Which knows all that is, was, and will be,
We are forgetful creatures,
And we often lose track of things
Of importance
Of value
Of significance
Not because we don't see them as such
But because our busyness is so constant
It leads to our forgetfulness.
It leads to us losing sight
Of the space and time you have determined for us to rest, to Sabbath, to spend time in your presence.
It leads to us losing sight
Of the value you place in us,
So we seek for approval,
Likes,
Follows,
Rather than recognizing the individuals and communities you've introduced us into.
But forgetfulness can be a good thing,
Especially when it allows us to move on;
To put behind us moments we shouldn't hold onto.
When it allows us to close the doors on relationships and religion that you have delivered us from.
When we are reminded of our own failures, also reminded us that you choose to forget;
To not condemn us,
And for that forgetfulness, we are thankful.
Amen.
