God,

Thank you for providing us with choice.
The choice to embrace or to reject.
The choice to dive in or to walk away.

Yours is not a faith of bondage,
But of freedom.
Freedom that reaches to all.
Freedom that extends to the ultimate;
To the point of allowing complete rejection.

Religion and its evangelical structures
Embrace fear,
Focusing on a “bondage” to sin;
Slavery to our failures;

Yet you always present choice.
You teach us that a relationship
Built on freedom rather than guilt,
Rather than trauma,
Rather than condemnation,
Often draws us to choosing you.

So God,
Thank you for the freedom of choice.
Jesus,
Show us your love in every choice we make.
Spirit,
Guard us from judging others’ choices.
