A Liturgy of Comfort

God,
That knows our highs and lows,
Our successes and our struggles,

In tough days, remind us that you are present;
That you understand us.
That you weep with us.
That you dwell with us.

In moments when we seek refuge
From trauma
From downpour
From attack
Remind us that you provide a cleft in the rock,
That you calm the storm
That you provide a path through the deep waters.

Help us remember that your comfort
Often comes through the acts of your body.
Hands that hold us as we mourn.
Feet that walk with us on dark pathways.
Ears that listen to our cries of doubt.
Eyes that tear up as we grieve.

God, thank you for those who show empathy.
Jesus, thank you for those who lighten our load.
Spirit, thank you for being a Comforter.

Amen.
