A Liturgy of Being Child-Like in Deconstruction

Ancient Ones,

We come to recognize your longevity;
Your timeless nature;
The wisdom of your age.

We, like children,
Want to learn more,
Always seeking with curiosity;
Always with open eyes, ears, and hearts.

As we dismantle the structures of religion
Allow us to be like a toddler with building blocks,
Finding even laughter and joy in
Knocking down the structures we’ve built up and
Finding creative ways to start over.

Let us be child-like in all we do,
From the way we welcome all  others,
To the way we find new excitement
In discovery and in mystery.
From how we speak of you
To how we dream and imagine where you are taking us.

God, bring child-like peace and joy to your children.

Jesus, let us dance and play in your freedom.

Spirit, open our hearts and minds to learn from you.

Amen.
