God of all Power

Our hearts are heavy
With concern for those who
Are being harassed,
Are being threatened,
Are being verbally attacked
For simply being authentic

For sharing their journeys of deconstruction
For sharing their stories of church-based trauma.
For honestly questioning the white evangelical church system.

It is at times, an annoyance
To have fundamentalists rebut and accuse.
It is at times, an exhaustion
To see evangelicals spew hatred toward those who claim the law of love.
It is at times, absolutely scary
To see the extremes some will go to threaten and harass someone.
So God, be our protector.
Guard us from these voices.
Guard us from those who threaten.
Guard those who are walking away
In order to find you.
To find truth.

God, shelter.
Jesus, draw a line in the sand.
Spirit, point us toward peace.
