God,
Why?

Why are all these individuals
Who claim to proclaim Jesus’ name
Saying and doing things
That cause hurt and harm
To those who doubt?
To those who question?
To those who seek?
To those who have trauma?
To those who live differently?

How are we supposedto recognize them
as our siblings?
As Your children?

We know we are on a different journey.
We know what we are questioning is
Counter-intuitive to their doctrines and tradition.
We know we are in different seasons,
And that can be a threat.

So they yell,
They scream
From their pulpits,
From their social media accounts,
remind us
That in the midst of all this noise
Yours is a still, small voice.
That yours is a voice of Truth and love
Never a voice of condemnation
Never a voice of insult.

God,
Help us to be still and know.
Jesus,
Help us to speak truth in love.
Spirit,
Let your voice dwell in us.
