God,
You took a day of rest.
A day to reflect on the completed work.

Not because you had to,
But because you wanted to
Give us an example
Of balance.

Yet we don’t do that very well.

We live busy lives,
We fill our schedules,
Are told work equals success.
That rest is for the weary.
The weak.

But you want us to pause.
To take a breath,
And look back at the accomplished.
To ponder the journey we took to
get to this point.

To spend time with you.

Allow us a time to celebrate the completion
and to be witness to what you can accomplish in our pausing.

Remind us, God, of the work you began.
Remind us, Jesus, of the work you completed.
Remind us, Spirit, to rest and allow you to work in us and through us.
